Birthday Man!

Hayden's forth birthday party was the past weekend. He chose a superhero theme. The party was a huge success due mostly to all of our friends and family. Nai Nai noted how helpful all of our friends are and how much they all seem to love our kids. We truly are lucky. Thank you to Josh for handling the bbq and to Sara and Shawn for skewering all of the fruit sabres. Hayden is a lucky little birthday boy.

Four years ago. He was a wee and happy little party fool.
Four years later, he's not so wee but still a party animal.
Captain Super Birthday Villain in all his glory. Shiny tight biker shorts and all. Perhaps he shouldn't have sat in the dark "bat-cave" alone with all of the boys, including Hayden's new friend, when the dad that we didn't know came to pick his son up. "I guess this'll be the last time your kid comes to our house to play." (actual quote)
Run away! It's tight biker short man!
The gang and their homemade capes. And by homemade I mean, made by the nimble fingers of my students during their recess.
I asked for a superhero pose here. Note Hayden's kissy face. ?
Proud Grandma.
The one time each year where he gets to legitimately blow out the candles on the cake.

Thank you Megan for my cake. I love it!
If you look closely, you'll see her pupils buzz from the sugar.
Super Freak! She's Super Freaky!
BUBBLES!
Happy Birthday Hay-do. We sure do love you. Love, Mama, Daddy, and Daisy.

Summer's End

Daisy exhausted from all of the summer fun at Bon Echo.
These kids could play on the beach for hours. Literally. We had many beach trips this summer. Grandma and Grandpa took the kids a couple of times, we celebrated Nico's birthday at the beach, and here they are at the Bon Echo beach. Both Hayden and Daisy are content to sit and dig and play in the shallow waters for hours on end. Between Scott's food poisoning and his bum knee, the beach was certainly a saviour to keep the kids entertained while camping.

The summer has brought the kids a little closer together. It is still a love hate relationship but big brother Hayden is really starting to look out for Daisy and empathize with her when she's sad. Daisy seems mostly grateful that Hayden has taught her how to defend herself and how to be a tough little nugget. She won't let anyone get in her way, including her big brother.

Lindy and Daisy=BFF
Daisy has a huge crush on Shawn. Whenever she sees him, she runs up and jumps into his arms. She normally won't come out from behind our legs for anyone else. Then she proceeds to snuzzle in to his shoulder with this dreamy smile on her face. She'll stay there for as long as he'll hold on to her.
Daisy and I got some seriously overdue lady time. We headed up to Tremblant on Labour Day weekend with Jaime, Casey, and Linden. We laughed, danced, ate, and chilled. Daisy and Linden did some serious bonding and are now BFFs.

Although they are BFFs, Daisy is still dealing with some trust issues.
Our BFFs Birthday party!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Our boy is officially part of the system now.

Overdue

This should have been my first clue that she wasn't feeling well.

At least she recuperated and was able to celebrate the next day.

I've long been overdue for a post. Most of you have probably given up on me. Most of you, who have probably hung out with us for an hour or two, probably understand why it's been hard for me to find a moment to make a post. Life is busy but full of fun. Those last shots were from Daisy's first birthday back in March. She actually got terribly sick the day before her party and we had to alter plans. She didn't really care because she still got to eat cupcakes.

Part of the reason I've been too busy to post is that I went back to work in March. I had a great class though and I really enjoyed being back in the classroom. We had an end of the year celebration at the beach and my students were great at keeping the kids busy.

Hayden has been Daddy's assistant as he builds our beautiful front garden.

Hayden and Daisy especially love playing in the front yard. All of the neighbours come out and join in on the fun. Their favourite is when it rains and there are puddles and dirt to play in.

We went camping at Sara's parents' cottage. The kids were amazing and played in the water the entire day. Hayden caught his first fish with Josh's help.

Here are some photos taken with my über fun new photo apps. A lot of these were taken this long weekend when the whole dang family made the trek out to see us. We celebrated Family Day/Chinese New Year/Valentine's Day in style with a yummy meal at Nai Nai and Yeh Yeh's house and a fun skate down the canal. Grandma delivered some great Valentine's day goodies and Uncle Dan and Aunty Alexis slept over. Hay-do was pretty much in heaven with Nico around to play with and Uncle Dan and Aunty Alexis to party with.
Highlights included: yummilicious Chinese New Year dinner, Hayden going to bed not knowing Dan and Alexis were coming-Alexis waking up to Hayden staring at her, waving hello, and then going back to bed, Hayden and Nico's movie marathon in a makeshift theatre in Hayden's room, taking our skates off, and Beavertails.
